Actor Sergei Kolesnikov died on Saturday morning, reported by RIA Novosti.
He was 68. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Sergei Kolesnikov built a prolific career across film, television, and theater. He appeared in projects such as “Little Things in Life,” “Truckers,” “His Happiness,” “Only Together,” “Petersburg Secrets,” “The Personal Life of Dr. Selivanova,” and the historical epic “Heart of Parma.” International audiences also recognized him for his role in the Hollywood action film “A Good Day to Die Hard.”
Beyond the screen, Kolesnikov was closely associated with the Moscow Art Theater named after Anton Chekhov, where he earned acclaim for his stage performances.
He was also a distinguished voice actor. He provided the Russian voice for James Bond in “You Only Live Twice” and lent his voice to major video game franchises including “League of Legends” and “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II.”
For many viewers, however, Kolesnikov became a familiar household presence as the host of the television program “Fazenda” on Channel One, which he led from 2006 to 2012.
In recognition of his contribution to film and television, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Russia. His son, Ivan Kolesnikov, has also pursued a career in acting.
