New Delhi. As many as 231 Indians returned home on Tuesday under ‘Operation Kaveri’, India’s campaign to bring back its citizens from violence-torn Sudan. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar gave this information. Jaishankar tweeted, “Another aircraft landed in Ahmedabad under Operation Kaveri. A total of 231 passengers reached home safely.

India launched ‘Operation Kaveri’ last week to evacuate its citizens from violence-hit Sudan. As part of the operation, 186 Indians reached Kochi on Monday, while 229 Indians reached Bengaluru on Sunday. A day before this, 365 Indian citizens came to Delhi. At the same time, 754 citizens returned to India in two batches on Friday under this evacuation operation.

India has set up a transit facility in Jeddah under ‘Operation Kaveri’. Indian nationals being brought to this Saudi Arabian city after being evacuated from Sudan. India has set up a control room in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah to facilitate the evacuation of Indian nationals from Sudan. An operation is being carried out to evacuate about 3,000 Indians in Sudan.

Indian Navy ships INS Sumedha, INS Teg and INS Tarkash are involved in the evacuation operation from Sudan. Apart from this, the aircraft of the Indian Air Force is also included in this. Necessary infrastructure has been created in Port Sudan and Jeddah as part of this operation. A fierce struggle for power between the army and a paramilitary group continues in Sudan.
