On the afternoon of May 3, the press service of the President of Russia announced that two drones had been destroyed over the Kremlin. After that, the media drew attention to the fact that videos filmed by residents of central Moscow appeared on the network at night, describing the alleged attack. What happened – in hardware Russian media.

The press service of the Russian presidential administration said that on the night of May 2-3, Russian military and special services disabled two drones that attacked the Kremlin.

“As a result of the terrorist act, the President of the Russian Federation was not injured. The schedule for its work has not changed, it continues as usual,” the message states.

The press service stressed that Moscow considers the incident a “planned terrorist act” and an attack on the head of state on the eve of Victory Day, therefore reserves the right to take retaliatory measures ” where and when it suits him”.

Later, videos appeared on social media with burning dome Senate Palace and moment of impact UAVs in the Kremlin. On another video visible flash of a drone strike on the dome.

The media drew attention to the fact that the first report of “loud bang and smoke” appeared at 02:38 in the telegram channel “Neighbors. Yakimanka-Zamoskvorechye” in reference to the inhabitants of the house on the embankment. “A few minutes later the pop was repeated,” he said.

About half an hour later informed that residents saw “sparks in the sky and people with flashlights near the Kremlin wall after the applause”, and the lighting in the Kremlin and the Kremlin embankment was turned off.

Kyiv assured that they had no information on the preparation and conduct of the drone attack on the Kremlin. This statement was made in particular by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his press officer Sergei Nikiforov. Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the presidential office, pointed out that Ukrainian forces are not striking Russian territory and speculated about “guerrilla activity by local resistance forces”.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on his Telegram channel a ban on the launch of unmanned aerial vehicles, “with the exception of drones used by decisions of state authorities”, in order “to prevent the ‘unauthorized use of drones that could impede the work of law enforcement’. agencies”. Over the past 24 hours, residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, according to Shot and Baza, received more than 200 reports of suspicious drones. Already after the announcement of the ban, eyewitnesses REMARK drone in the center of the capital, on Bolshaya Polyanka. The wreckage of the drone and the funnel of the explosion too were discovered in a forest area in Kolomna near Moscow.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called the nighttime drone attack an “attack on Russia” and called for Ukraine to be recognized as a terrorist state.

The leader of the Just Russia – For the Truth party, Sergei Mironov, questioned why the air defense allowed drones to reach the Kremlin and demanded that “Ukraine’s terrorist elite” be eliminated.

The head of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, Alexander Khinshtein, said that it was necessary “to urgently develop and adopt a set of laws strictly regulating all areas of this most important issue, which is directly related to security issues”.

The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Aleksey Zhuravlev called for “a targeted attack on the center of Kiev, to destroy the office of the president, to destroy the Verkhovna Rada, the state- major general and the buildings housing the Ukrainian special services.”

What military experts say

“From the point of view of large aircraft, Moscow is closed, from the point of view of small ones, air defense systems have been installed on the roofs just in case. Air defense and electronic warfare are responsible for the security of Moscow – electronic warfare, stations that “deprive the mind” of drones,” Reserve Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin told Russian media.

He suggested that “the undermining of trains in the Bryansk region, the terrorist attacks on the leaders of Crimea” and other similar actions Kiev can consider as its own counteroffensive.

The Kremlin is a closed area and Moscow is reliably protected against any missiles and aircraft, assured a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev. However, according to him, drones are a “relatively new” type of weapon, so “new means” are needed to combat them.

Such a situation should lead to resignations, but they will not happen, ex-DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov said confidently. In his opinion, the drones that attacked the Kremlin were launched from the territory of Moscow or the Moscow region, most likely by an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group.

“Honestly right now I don’t see much point in even hitting Bankovaya or any other major brick building. It is now shaking fists after a fight, ”said military commander Alexander Kots.

Military Commissar Yevgeny Poddubny doubts that the two drones that tried to attack the Kremlin flew from Ukraine, as it is too long a distance “for such a small drone” with explosives on board. “So they equipped them with us, launched them, I think, from an area near the capital,” he said.

Poddubny also criticized Russian authorities for their “defensive rhetoric” and expressed bewilderment that “the Kiev regime’s symbols of power are still intact”, as well as Ukrainian decision-making centers.

“As long as we start and do not end, as with the same critical infrastructure system of the enemy, his bridges over the Dnieper, attacks on Kiev (the structures exercising state administration), (Ukrainian) will not only hit the drone on the Kremlin, it will do something much more important, ”commented on the incident, German Kulikovsky, the author of the telegram channel Older Edda.
