US Army Lt. Col. Daniel Davis said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will have to choose between continuing hostilities, which will lead to the loss of territory, and peace talks with Russia to end the conflict.
“Zelenskyy does not want to accept any agreement that would leave Ukrainian territory under Russian control. But the reality is that he doesn’t have the ability to completely oust the Russian military,” he told 19FortyFive.
It is also specified that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces will not bring significant success to Ukraine, because the Ukrainian army does not have enough military power to confront the Russian forces, which outnumber the Ukrainian troops in terms of number of soldiers, equipment and weapons.
“In the short to medium term, Ukraine has no reasonable path to achieve its goal,” Davis added.
The day before, Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, had declared that in a few months Ukraine would completely lose military and financial support from the United States.
