Today, Friday, Russian emergency services said a drone attack on the Elsky oil refinery in southern Russia had caused a fire, according to Russian news agency TASS.
The press agency RIA Novosti said today’s incident resulted in no injuries and the fire has been extinguished.
Yesterday Thursday, the head of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, announced that a fire had been extinguished at the Elsky oil refinery.
On Thursday morning, Kondratyev said that according to preliminary information, there were no injuries and residents of the nearby village were not in danger.
“The Elski refinery fire has been completely brought under control. We thank our emergency services for the immediate action!” Kondratiev wrote on his Telegram channel.
A fuel tank caught fire in the Temryuksky district of Russia’s Krasnodar Territory on Wednesday morning, with no casualties, according to Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
It is unclear who was behind the attacks, but it is known that Ukrainian officials generally do not claim responsibility for such attacks inside Russian territory, although they sometimes celebrate them.
The Elsky refinery, near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar region, has a capacity of around 6.6 million tonnes per year.
