Bank employees in India can get a big gift soon. The government is preparing to fulfill an old demand of bank employees. It is being told in the news that the Central Government may soon issue an official notification in this regard.

Government in preparation to stamp

According to a media report, the central government is seriously considering the demand of bank employees for 5 working days in a week. The Finance Ministry is preparing to seal this old demand of bank employees, after which a notification can be issued in this regard and the change can be implemented.

every saturday is not a holiday anymore

If this happens then bank employees will now have to work only 5 days every week. In the current system, bank employees get a holiday on every Sunday of the month, but banks do not have a holiday on every Saturday. Banks are open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of every month, while the second and fourth Saturdays of the month are holidays for bank employees.

IBA has sent the proposal

The employees of banks were demanding for a long time that the system of 5 working days in a week should be implemented for them. The Indian Banks’ Association had also given a proposal to the government in this regard. Quoting sources in the news, it has been claimed that the government is moving ahead positively on the proposal of the Indian Bank Association and soon a notification regarding the Wage Board Revision can be issued.

long standing demand

The demand for five working days first arose after the Corona pandemic. However, the Indian Banks’ Association then rejected this demand and offered a 19 per cent pay hike instead. Later the demand for a five-day week kept gaining momentum. For this demand, under the leadership of the United Forum of Bank Unions, bank employees were on strike for two days in January this year as well.

working hours will increase

According to a news of Times of India, the Indian Bank Association has agreed to the demand of 5 days a week after increasing the working hours. The Indian Banks’ Association had agreed in February 2023 that it would look into the demand for a 5-day week. Along with this, he had added the condition of increasing the working hours by 40 minutes every day. If this happens then the bank employees will have to work from 09:45 am to 05:30 pm.
