Erdogan says he cannot allow attacks on Russia

The head of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has issued a statement regarding his opposition’s attacks on Russia and its President, Vladimir Putin.

Erdogan said relations with Russia are no less important for Turkey than with Washington. He made his statement during a speech in the capital of Turkey. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Bye-bye Kemal (Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, presidential candidate. – Editor’s note) attacks Putin, Russia. I cannot allow it. Our relationship with Russia is no less important than with Washington,” the agency said.

Thus, he turned to the candidate for the next presidential elections of the opposition “People’s Alliance” Kılıçdaroğlu. Earlier, the Kremlin commented on statements about alleged Russian interference in domestic politics and electoral processes in other countries.

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that there was no question of interference in the Turkish elections and added: “We strongly reject such statements.” He also noted that Moscow values ​​bilateral relations with Turkey.

At the same time, Zvezda showed footage of a rally in Istanbul in support of Erdogan. To support the outgoing president and hear his speech, residents took to the streets of the city.
