The Washington Post reported on Sunday that:
Prigozhin has repeatedly offered the Ukrainian secret service to provide them with information on the location of Russian army units. Prigozhin’s offer was in exchange for the “withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the eastern town of Bakhmut, where its elements are fighting a fierce battle. Ukrainian intelligence services rejected Prigozhin’s offer. Documents U.S. intelligence sources and unnamed Ukrainian and U.S. officials” were behind the report.
The reports and speculation, which cannot be independently verified, come as the rift between Prigozhin and the Russian military intensifies amid the war in Ukraine.
“Wagner” elements are leading the vanguard of the bloody Russian attack, seeking to control the city of Bakhmut, which Moscow says will open the door to controlling more land in eastern Ukraine.
However, the head of “Wagner” has publicly criticized the Russian general staff for months, accusing it of “not providing its fighters with the necessary ammunition to enable them to control Bakhmut”.
Prigogine replied
Prigozhin sarcastically responded to the US newspaper’s report on Monday, saying: “It seems that I am fighting for Russia, but at the same time (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy is following my instructions. So the left hand is at war with the right hand.” “It (the reports) are funny,” said an audio message to the president from Wagner, which was posted by his media on “Telegram.” on the other hand, Prigozhin confirmed that he “has not been to Africa since the beginning” of the conflict in Ukraine, in response to what was reported by the “Washington Post” that the head of “Wagner” met members of the Ukrainian intelligence services in an unnamed African country.Prigozhin believed that members of the Russian elite were behind the accusations and said: “They are trying to throw as much bullshit at me as possible.” For its part, Moscow commented on the information, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the information published by the “Washington Post” “misleading news”, according to “Agence France Presse”. )Ukraine
