Macron promised Zelenskyy to supply several battalions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with armored vehicles

October 2, 2025

The Ukrainian president is continuing his tour of Europe in order to obtain additional weapons for the counter-offensive promised to the Western allies. During the talks in Paris, Zelenskyy managed to beg for several dozen AMX-10RC wheeled tanks.

Emmanuel Macron has confirmed his intention to equip several battalions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with French armored vehicles. According to information from the Elysee Palace, Paris will give Kyiv several dozen AMX – 10RC armored vehicles and wheeled tanks. In addition, the French party undertakes to train Ukrainian crews for these vehicles.

It should be noted that the AMX – 10RC is quite a specific car. Indeed, it can only be used on hard ground, because the wheeled chassis has much less cross-country ability than the tracked one. In April, it was already reported that the first 14 wheeled tanks had arrived in Ukraine, but these vehicles have not yet been seen on the line of contact.

The question of the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine is still considered premature by Paris. Politico newspaper reported that there are no plans to send fighter jets to Kiev in the near future. Instead, France will focus on supporting armies in the area of air defense. It has not yet been announced which air defense systems will be transferred from Paris to Kyiv.
