The Organization of Islamic Cooperation renews its support for the rights of the Palestinian people on the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaffirmed its unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right of return, and the embodiment of the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967 AD, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This came in the organization’s statement on the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Nakba of Palestine, which falls on the fifteenth of May, and what accompanied it after Israel, the colonial occupying power, carried out ethnic cleansing and systematic state terrorism against the Palestinian people by committing more than 51 massacres that claimed the lives of about 15,000 Palestinian citizens. , and the forced displacement of more than 950,000 others, as well as the complete destruction of 531 Palestinian villages, and the confiscation of the lands and property of the indigenous Palestinian people.

The organization stated that this painful memory is still alive in the individual and collective memory of the Islamic nation, as a dark sign in the human conscience and a setback for the values ​​of freedom and justice, due to the human tragedies, mass displacement and denial of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, and the repercussions of its chapters that are still continuing through practices. Israel, the colonial occupying power.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. A/RES/77/23 of November 30, 2022 AD, to celebrate the Nakba for the first time in the history of the United Nations, and it reaffirms, on this occasion, the responsibility of the international community and its political, legal, humanitarian and moral duties. Towards the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and activating international justice mechanisms to hold Israel, the occupying power, accountable for its crimes against humanity, to correct the historical injustice that still befalls the Palestinian people, and to find a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to their cause in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

She expressed her appreciation and appreciation for the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its relentless efforts in providing basic services to the estimated 6.5 million Palestinian refugees, stressing the need to continue its role as it represents the living international witness to the refugee tragedy, and embodies the commitment of the international community towards Implementation of United Nations resolutions and the need to find a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian refugee issue.


The organization expressed its admiration and admiration for the Palestinian people, who were able, despite the recurring chapters and repercussions of this painful catastrophe over the decades, to continue their just struggle in all its forms, in order to defend their land, the cradle of civilizations, cultures and monotheistic religions, and to protect their national identity, continuing their efforts to embody their freedom. independence and sovereignty over its national territory.
