According to the newspaper “Daily Mail”, the cargo plane “Boeing 747” had taken off in the direction of O’Hare airport in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Immediately after takeoff, the flight crew noticed that the takeoff wheels could not be retracted as usual, which appeared to be a malfunction.
When the plane landed, 45 minutes after takeoff, it slid down the runway so violently that its rear wheels separated.
The company “Cargolux”, owner of the plane, explained that what happened on Sunday evening was a “serious landing accident”.
The plane had to jettison fuel in the air before making the landing, which was completed in a controlled manner.
The company said the plane is still on the runway, while steps are being taken to restore it.
