Jordanian “Umniah Telecom” launches fifth generation services

Faisal Kamhiyah, CEO of the company, told Reuters that since winning the license earlier this year, Umniah has partnered with Ericsson in the first phase of the service rollout by establishing the infrastructure and upgrading the existing 4G network.

Experts estimate the market value of telecommunications services in Jordan at $1.2 billion. The other two companies are Kuwait-based Zain Group and Orange Jordan.

Bahrain-based Pune Telecom Group owns most of Umniah’s shares. Pune also owns Bahrain’s telecommunications company, Batelco.
