Russian leader Vladimir Putin said Russian fighters and commanders during the special military operation were fighting as direct supporters of Nazism.
He said so in a message to Russian Jews and all who celebrate Salvation and Liberation Day, published on the Kremlin’s website.
Putin also stressed the need to “keep holy” the truth about World War II, as well as to understand what connivance with nationalism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia can lead to.
“It is with the direct followers of Nazism that our fighters and commanders are fighting today in a special military operation,” reads the text of the telegram.
Earlier, Security Council Vice President Dmitry Medvedev said opponents of Russia will start a third world war, in which there can be no winner.
