Sydney: Australia today assured India that it would continue to take tough action against those who attacked temples in the country and those involved in separatist activities in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese at Admiralty House here. Shri Modi spoke to Mr. Albanese regarding attacks on temples in Australia and activities of separatist elements.
On arrival at Admiralty House, Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome and given a guard of honour. India Australia Migration and Migration Partnership Arrangement (MMPA) was signed in the meeting. In his press statement, Shri Modi said, “We had talked about the attacks on temples in Australia and the activities of separatist elements, and today also we have talked. It is not acceptable to us that any element harms the cordial relations between India and Australia through their thoughts or their actions.
I thank Prime Minister Albanese for the steps he has taken in this regard. And at the same time he assured me once again that he will continue to take strict action against such elements.” Referring to the six meetings with Albanese in a year, Modi said it reflected the depth of our comprehensive ties, the convergence of our views and the maturity of our cooperation. In cricketing terms, our relations have shifted to T20 mode.
