Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Mediterranean diet is recognized as the most economical

Scientists from the University of South Australia found that the Mediterranean diet was the most economical compared to the Western style of eating and the Australian recommendations for healthy eating.

This was reported by Nutrients magazine. The Western diet is known to be high in red meat, milk, processed and refined foods, as well as sugar, salt, but low in vegetables. It also differs from others in that it practically does not involve the use of fiber, zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin E and vitamin B6.

This style of eating leads to weight gain and the appearance of various diseases. At the same time, for some reason, such a diet remains popular around the world. Much of this is because some people are convinced that this style of eating is cheap compared to healthy eating.

The scientists decided to test it. They compared the daily expenses of different families for three food baskets, which were compiled based on the recommendations of the Mediterranean and Western diets, as well as the Australian one.

As a result, it turned out that the weekly cost of the Mediterranean diet was 2200 rubles lower. It can cost about 6,000 rubles a week for one person, about 11,000 rubles for a family of two, 17,000 rubles for a family of three, and about 23,000 rubles for a family of four.

“A saving of 2,200 rubles per week may seem insignificant, but for a year it amounts to almost 120,000 rubles, which can significantly affect your budget,” scientists quote “Gazeta.RU” .
