Bhubaneswar. The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police has seized three leopard skins and arrested a man on charges of poaching. An official gave this information on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kishor Panigrahi said that on the basis of reliable information, the STF raided on Wednesday and arrested the alleged accused near Siriguda Swargdham Chak in Raigad town.
The SP said that during the search three leopard skins and other incriminating material were seized from the possession of the accused. He said that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPS) and Section 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. Case registered.
Panigrahi said that the skins of the leopards would be sent to the director of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun for biological testing.
