Madhya Pradesh got the first National Water Award for the best state for excellent water management

Indore awarded second prize in Best Urban Local Body category

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh has received the first National Water Award in the Best State category for its excellent work in conservation, promotion and management of water resources. This is the fourth National Water Award-2022 of the country. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar honored Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat and Additional Chief Secretary SN Mishra with the first prize citation and trophy at a function held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday. Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel and Bishweshwar Tudu were also present on the occasion. As many as 41 winners in 11 different categories were felicitated at the event.

Public Relations Officer Zakia Ruhi said that Indore Municipal Corporation was awarded the second prize in the Best Urban Local Body category for its excellent performance in water supply and distribution. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat honored Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and Additional Commissioner Siddharth Jain with a citation, trophy and a cash prize of Rs one lakh 50 thousand.

Water Resources Minister Silavat said that historical works have been done for agriculture and farmers under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In the last 18 years, the area under irrigation in the state has increased to 45 lakh hectare, which the state government is committed to increase to 65 lakh hectare by the year 2025. Madhya Pradesh has done excellent work in every field of water management.

There has been an innovation in the state to deliver water directly from the dam to the fields through an underground pipeline. State’s Mohanpura and Kundalia project, whose irrigation capacity is 2 lakh 25 thousand hectare, has been established as an exemplary irrigation project in the field of water use efficiency upgrade.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has congratulated and congratulated the people of the state on receiving the “National Water Award-2022” for Madhya Pradesh. He said, “This honor is a matter of pride for every resident of the state. Such efforts will not only save our land, but life on this land will also prosper.”

Vice President Dhankhar has honored Madhya Pradesh with the first prize in the Best State category for its excellent work in the field of water conservation, management and utilization at the fourth National Water Awards ceremony of Union Jal Shakti Ministry at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
