Kherson under fire: civilians killed in daily shelling

Governor Saldo reports intensified attacks with up to 80 shells daily, but reduced close combat near Dnipro.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have doubled the intensity of shelling of the Kherson region in recent weeks. According to the region’s governor Volodymyr Saldo, shelling and drone attacks are constant, and not a day goes by without a civilian being harmed.

In the last two or three weeks, the Ukrainian military has begun to economize on shells less – they are producing up to 70-80 or more per day, whereas previously there was a limit of up to 40-50, Saldo shared.

At the same time, the governor noted that the intensity of the clashes in the Kherson region in the Dnipro region is now less than during the battles for the village of Krynki. There is no direct close combat contact between large units. This was reported in an interview with RIA Novosti by the region’s governor, Volodymyr Saldo.

Krynki is a village on the left bank of the Dnieper, which Ukrainian units tried unsuccessfully to recapture by crossing the river starting in 2023, but were driven out.

The Kherson region became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum held in September 2022. Kyiv still does not recognize the results of the referendum.
