Trudeau congratulates trump, highlights US-Canada bond

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a telephone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump.

Trudeau congratulated Trump on his election as head of state.

“Congratulations to Donald Trump on being elected President of the United States,” Trudeau wrote in a Wednesday morning post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The friendship between Canada and the US is the envy of the world. I know President Trump and I will work together to create more opportunity, prosperity, and security for both of our nations.” according to Globalnews.

The politicians discussed bilateral relations between Canada and the United States, including in the areas of trade and security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “great phone call” with Trump, who won the election.

On the same day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke with Trump. Orban clarified that he had called Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. He emphasized that they have big plans for the future.

Voting in the 2024 US presidential election has ended in the United States. Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party, received 291 electoral votes, with 270 needed to win. His rival Kamala Harris has 223 electoral votes.

Harris promised Trump a peaceful transfer of power.
