Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

US pushes Israel toward ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah

Israel has given preliminary approval to a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon , Ynet reported, citing several sources.

Israel’s draft agreement with the Shiite Hezbollah movement includes a 60-day transition period during which the Israeli military is to leave southern Lebanon. After that, the Lebanese army is expected to be deployed in areas close to the border, and Hezbollah will move its heavy weapons north of the Litani River. The initiative is to be overseen by a US- led committee .

Before this, the US threatened Israel to refuse consultations on Lebanon.

On September 23, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the launch of a “preemptive offensive operation” against Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in Lebanon.

On September 28 , it became known that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had been killed in an airstrike by an Israeli Air Force fighter on the organization’s underground headquarters in southern Beirut . The information was confirmed by the organization itself. During the operation to eliminate Nasrallah, Israel dropped 85 one-ton bombs on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
