Operations by armed opposition groups against Syria have been ongoing for a week. As the world’s eyes turn to Syria again, Russia has also announced its stance on the conflicts in the region. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Russia will continue to support Syrian President Bashar Assad.”

Opposition groups in Syria launched a new operation against the regime on November 27. The opposition, who quickly advanced and took full control of Aleppo and Idlib, also encountered airstrikes from Russia from time to time. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov made a statement today regarding the clashes in the region.

According to Alarabiya “Syrian and Russian aircraft responded with deadly strikes in support of government forces on Sunday, according to the Britain-based Observatory.” Information received from the opposition aircraft observatory, Assad forces and Russian warplanes have carried out at least 9 airstrikes on central Idlib since the morning hours.
