GREEN BAY, Wis. – Jordan Love has the receivers to stretch Carolina’s defense. Whether Green Bay can keep its reshuffled offensive line intact long enough to use them is the more immediate question at Lambeau Field on Thursday night.
The Packers host the Panthers in NFL Week 8 on October 29, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern. Green Bay enters 4–3 and Carolina 3–3, both looking for a response after divisional defeats rather than another reminder of the weaknesses exposed on Sunday.
The short turnaround makes this more than a meeting between two productive passing attacks. Green Bay has lost its starting center and another starting lineman, while Carolina’s final injury report left it thin at both offensive line and cornerback. The pressure points lie in the places each team needs to protect its quarterback or disrupt the other one.
According to Green Bay’s final injury report, center Sean Rhyan is out with an ankle injury and guard/tackle Travis Glover is out with a knee injury. Linebacker Zaire Franklin will also miss the game because of a shin injury.
Receiver Matthew Golden remains questionable with shoulder and foot injuries. Defensive tackles Devonte Wyatt and Anthony Campbell, both dealing with ankle injuries, and edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr., with a quadriceps injury, carry the same designation. Questionable is not a confirmed absence; the final inactive list will determine who is available.

Carolina has its own shortage. The Panthers ruled out left guard Damien Lewis, cornerback Akayleb Evans, outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips and reserve offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III. In their Wednesday injury update, the team said that left seven healthy offensive linemen and two healthy cornerbacks on the 53-man roster, pending further transactions.
Defensive tackle Bobby Brown III is questionable with a hand injury. Quarterback Bryce Young, receiver Jalen Coker and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald have no game designation on the final report. Their appearance on an earlier practice report should not be mistaken for an absence on Thursday.
Those distinctions matter because this week’s participation listings were estimates from walk-throughs rather than a conventional sequence of full practices. The game designations provide the firmer guide to availability, although they do not resolve every question before kickoff.

Green Bay’s October 12 passing display showed how quickly Love and Watson can turn deep completions into a decisive advantage. Against a short-handed secondary, the threat is apparent. But Golden’s uncertain availability and the changes in protection make it less straightforward than matching a productive quarterback against a depleted position group.
The running game offers a different test. In Carolina’s official scouting report, Green Bay ranks last in the league with 59.9 rushing yards per game. Josh Jacobs returned Sunday and gained 36 yards on 11 carries, although he added five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.
That receiving contribution complicates the defensive assignment. Jacobs can remain useful when conventional runs stall, forcing defenders to account for him underneath while Watson threatens farther downfield. For Green Bay, the challenge is turning those options into an offense that does not need an explosive completion to sustain every important possession.
Love has thrown for at least 274 yards in each of his past three games, according to Carolina’s report. Across that stretch he has five touchdown passes, two interceptions and six sacks. The production shows the passing game functioning through disruption; it does not make another change at center inconsequential.

That history cannot repair either injury list. It does underline the cost of wasting a possession or failing to finish a drive in a matchup that has repeatedly stayed close. Green Bay needs a win to avoid returning to .500 in the NFC North; Carolina can move above that mark with a road victory.
For all the attention on Love’s receivers, Thursday’s first unanswered question sits closer to the ball. After two centers left the previous game, the Packers must begin another one with the protection calls, exchanges and timing of a reshuffled line under immediate scrutiny.
