It turned out that the Kaliningrad authorities plan to return trams to Gagarin and Frunze streets. More about this in the document “The Eastern Herald in Kaliningrad”.
Head of administration Elena Dyatlova announced her intention to return the trams during her work trip, which took place on Friday, April 21.
According to the official, when designing Blagoveshchenskaya Street, which will stretch from the intersection of Gagarin and Yubileinaya to the eastern microdistrict, sections will be laid. They will serve as roadways for the tramway tracks. At present, the movement of trams is carried out along 9 April Street, and previously they walked along Frunze, where the track area has been preserved. Therefore, it is planned to launch trams to Gagarin, then along Blagoveshchenskaya to the eastern microdistrict.
However, Dyatlova did not specify the exact details of where the tracks will be laid on the stretch from the Royal Gate to the intersection with Yubileinaya. The authorities prefer to leave this opportunity to prepare for the future.
Blagoveshchenskaya’s design is expected to be completed by the end of this year. However, it should be noted that the construction time has not yet been determined. Now the authorities have started construction of a kindergarten and design work is already underway to create a new school nearby.
Connecting Blagoveshchenskaya Street with Denisova and Yubileinaya Streets and connecting the northern bypass with Nevsky Prospekt are also important tasks. Recall that the tram tracks on Gagarina Street were dismantled in 2008, and the old routes No. 4 and No. 9 passed to the Young Guard.
