April 22, 2023

Autonomous operation of the region’s power grid was tested in the Kaliningrad region. For this, the region was disconnected from the BRELL energy ring at 8:42 am.

At present, Kaliningrad’s energy network is part of a single network between Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Earlier, the European side repeatedly made statements about the desire to withdraw from the common energy ring.

The tests were carried out in the region for the fifth time and switched to normal mode. The region first tested offline operation in 2019.

To ensure energy security in the region, four new thermal power plants (TPP) with a total capacity of 1 GW are in operation. Governor of the region Anton Alikhanov announced this on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, The Eastern Herald in Kaliningrad reported that the Ministry of Health of the Kaliningrad region announced a shortage of pediatricians in the Kaliningrad City Children’s Polyclinic. Regional authorities have recognized the shortage of doctors.
