Express: Ukrainian wheat was given to pigs in Spain instead of being sent to poor countries

February 15, 2023, 06:29 – Public Information Service – TEH – Express columnist Michael Koch said that instead of sending Ukrainian wheat to poor African countries, it was given to pigs in Spain.

Koch recalled that the European Union fought for the creation of a corridor for the supply of Ukrainian cereals by sea, so that the poorest countries do not face famine.

However, according to him, the wheat never got there. Instead, the observer said, it was sent to Spain, where it was used as pig feed. He suggested that the reason lies in the benefits for Kiev.

“To explain such shame, it’s simple: Spain paid more money and Ukraine delivered,” Koch said.

Deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Grushko, in turn issued a statement that the European Union is not keeping its promises to lift restrictions on the export of Russian grain and fertilizers as part of the grain agreement.

As the Public News Service reported earlier, the Russian Federation’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said Russia has so far been unable to export a single “cereal” under the relevant agreements.
