Brittney Griner signs with the WNBA

Basketball player Brittney Griner, who spent 10 months in prison in Russia, has signed a contract with women’s NBA club Phoenix Mercury. On this subject informed FoxNews.
The 32-year-old basketball player signed a contract with the club, in which she played nine seasons and which selected her with the first draft number in 2013.
Thus, Greiner returns to the major league of women’s basketball in the United States after nearly 10 months spent in a Russian prison.
Brittney Greiner, who played in Russia for UMMC Yekaterinburg, was arrested at Sheremetyevo airport in February last year for attempting to illegally transport drugs. Customs officers found a vape containing marijuana oil in his luggage. In August, the court in Khimki sentenced the double Olympic champion in the American team to nine years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles.
On December 8, 2022, Greiner was released following an exchange with a Russian convicted in the United States, Viktor Bout.
