Tver
On February 27, a meeting of judges of the courts of the Tver region was held in the capital of the Upper Volga region. The results of the work in 2022 were summarized and the tasks for the current year were determined. Governor Igor Rudenya sent his greetings to the President of the Tver Regional Court Mikhail Zolin and the participants of the meeting.
The head of the region stressed that in 2022 the courts of the Tver region achieved significant results in their work. Over 49,000 cases were heard by municipal, district and inter-district courts, over 274,000 cases by magistrates. Particular attention was paid to protecting the social and labor rights of citizens.
“Currently, one of the priority areas of work is the implementation of measures to support the participants of the special military operation and their families,” noted Igor Rudenya. “It is also important to guarantee the principle of the inevitability of the punishment of crimes and offenses against the State, including terrorism and extremism, the propagation of the ideology of Nazism, as well as false information on a special military operation. An equally important task is to ensure the sustainable development of the regional economy. We count on your responsible and balanced approach when considering cases in the economic sphere, which will serve to strengthen the business and investment climate in the Upper Volga region.

The year 2022 has been rich in significant events in the history of the evolution of internal justice. 160 years ago, Emperor Alexander II approved the Basic Provisions for the Transformation of the Judiciary in Russia. This document marked the beginning of the formation in the country of one of the most efficient judicial systems in the world. The Supreme Court of our country was created 100 years ago.
January 1 this year marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Tver Provincial Court, the successor to which is the Tver Regional Court.
Hero of Socialist Labor Alexander Fedorovich Gorkin was born in the Upper Volga region, who served as the President of the Supreme Court of the USSR for the longest time – 15 years, from 1957 to 1972.

Under his leadership, the judicial reform of 1956-1964 was completed: extensive work was carried out to improve the legislation on justice and legal proceedings, and regulations were adopted aimed at strengthening the rule of law.
Today, the government of the Tver region helps with the organizational support of the activities of the justices of the peace, including by putting the court sites in good condition and creating a digital infrastructure there.
