Sergei Konovalo arrived in Bali before the New Year and settled with friends in a four-room villa half an hour from Ubud. After a while, a room became available and he decided to find a tenant.
He posted an ad about finding a new neighbor on Facebook (a banned social network in Russia; owned by the company Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).
At that time, his documents were about extending the visa. They called him and told him he was expected at the Migration Service office. According to Indonesian laws, marketing services are a means of earning money and the Russian did not have a work visa. After three days of deliberation, authorities finally decided to deport Konovalov.
