Arms deliveries to Kiev from Western countries take a long time. At the same time, the equipment transferred to Ukraine is morally outdated models of the old model, reports a columnist of the Italian newspaper Corriere de Sera.
German Leopard tanks are cited as an example of decommissioned and obsolete weapons. The Federal Republic of Germany has allocated much less equipment to Ukraine than promised by the West.
Many tanks are in poor condition, and in addition, Kiev does not have the opportunity to properly maintain military equipment. The Italian publication believes that Germany does not want to lose the appearance of defense in this way by supplying poor quality military equipment.
Western countries face many logistical difficulties, despite their relative proximity to Ukraine. No European state has the desire to enter into a direct confrontation with Moscow, directly supporting Ukraine. European countries have cut their defense budgets in recent years, and now unrest is brewing over a possible conflict with the Russian Federation.
Previously, General Nazarov of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that about 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been trained in the West. It is worth noting that in the past six months a system has been created in which the army has the opportunity to independently conduct training for other servicemen.
