Representatives of almost 150 different nationalities live in the Leningrad region

The Leningrad region retained the status of a multinational region. According to the 2021 census, representatives of 145 nationalities live in the Leningrad region.

According to Rosstat, more than two million people live in the Leningrad region. Since 2010, the number of inhabitants of the region has increased by 284,000 people. Of these, 1117 people consider themselves to be indigenous peoples.

Recall that the population of Russia amounted to more than 146 million people as of January 1, 2023. The population has decreased by just over 555 thousand people in one year.
