Qatar: The Football Association postpones the decision to reduce the number of clubs

The Executive Committee of the Football Association issued Decision No. (16) for the year 2023 regarding the ups and downs system for the 2022-2023 sports season, and based on Article No. (7) of the QNB Stars League regulations and Article No. (8) of the second-division league regulations for the 2022/2023 sports season, which include The system of promotion and relegation and reducing the number of first-division clubs to (10) teams only. The Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association decided the following: postponing the above-mentioned system of reducing the number of clubs participating in the QNB Stars League to only 10 teams, and secondly continuing to The same system for promotion and relegation for the previous sports season 2021/2022 and its provisions apply for the current sports season 2022/2023, as follows: The team that scores the most points wins the QNB Stars League competition. The 12th-placed team in the QNB Stars League competition is relegated to the second division, and the 11th-placed team in the QNB Stars League competition plays a playoff match with the second-placed team in the second-division league competition, to determine the participating team in the QNB Stars League competition, and if the play-off match ends With a tie, extra time of 30 minutes is resorted to, divided into two halves, and if the tie continues, a penalty shootout is resorted to.
