Qatar: The National Agency for Cybersecurity organizes a panel discussion and awareness pavilion on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference for the Least Developed Countries

The National Agency for Cybersecurity is participating in the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which is currently being held in Doha, through a pavilion to introduce conference participants and state visitors to the agency’s role in securing and preserving cyberspace in the country. On the sidelines of the conference, the National Agency for Cybersecurity organized a discussion session entitled "National cyber readiness and ways to manage and raise awareness of it", through which she shed light on cyber risks and methods of managing them and raising awareness of them in the least developed countries. The discussion session touched on several axes, the most important of which are cyber capabilities and readiness, the necessary plans to raise the level of cyber readiness, and the development of policies and strategies necessary to protect digital infrastructure, in addition to activating the role of academic institutions and research centers. Mr. Ibrahim Khaled Al Mahmoud, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the National Agency for Cybersecurity, affirmed the agency’s keenness to participate in the conference and support the cybersecurity capabilities of the least developed countries, by holding a session aimed at enhancing visions and presenting the experience of the State of Qatar, in addition to providing the attendees with a training bag containing Cyber ​​security awareness courses. He added that the size, level and scope of cyber threats targeting the critical services and infrastructure of countries, especially the least developed ones, is increasing rapidly and outweighs the defensive measures of those countries, noting that the attacks at the present time require concerted international efforts and their focus on transferring the state of these institutions from cyber insecurity to readiness. Cyber, by understanding the risks it faces at all levels, and developing comprehensive strategies for national cyber security. The National Cybersecurity Agency seeks, through its participation in the Fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries, to shed light on cyber risks, methods of managing them, and raising awareness of them in the least developed countries, and to acquaint participants in the conference with the agency’s pioneering role in securing and preserving cyberspace in the country. Qatar, and its future aspirations to enhance international efforts to support the least developed countries in the cyber field.
