The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation signed "Kahramaa" The Qatar Electricity and Water Company signed an agreement to extend the contract to operate the Ras Abu Fontas (BA) station for electricity production, during a ceremony held today in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs.
The agreement is a confirmation of the successful partnership between the two parties, as the 20-year station operating contract has been extended for a period of more than 7 years until 2029. It is also considered a continuation of their cooperation to achieve optimal utilization of the resources of the State of Qatar, which confirms the efficiency of KAHRAMAA and the Qatar Electricity and Water Company. The Ras Abu Fontas (BA) station is one of the six stations that make up the Ras Abu Fontas stations complex, which was inaugurated in 2002. Under the agreement, Qatar Energy will continue to supply the station with the natural gas needed to operate it during the extension period, and Kahramaa will also operate It will meet the country’s growing needs for electric energy, as it will enjoy greater flexibility in exploiting the capacities of the three gas turbines that make up the station.
