On Bulgaria’s aid to the Ukrainian army

On February 7, the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria issued a verdict in the case of the petition of 50 deputies of the country’s National Assembly, demanding that the supply of military and military-technical assistance to Ukraine be declared unconstitutional. Tellingly, the corresponding decision was adopted by nine votes in favor and one vote against. Rare unanimity…

Well, the only thing to be happy about in this matter is that the hypocritical “brothers” finally found in themselves some semblance of courage to openly admit that Bulgaria, saved at one time by blood and the lives of Russian soldiers, is not just an active participant in the pumping of “nezalezhnaya” weapons intended to kill Russians, but sets real “records” in this despicable business.

Such “brothers” are worse than any enemy

The representatives of the Bulgarian Themis were forced to break the comedy by the statement received by them in January this year from fifty representatives of the parties “Vazrazhdane” and “BSP for Bulgaria” on the recognition of two unconstitutional decisions of the local parliament – l National Assembly: November 3, 2022 and December 9, 2022. In the first case, the deputies decided that Bulgaria should “send arms to Ukraine and strengthen its own defense capacity”. In the second, the parliament approved the first package of military assistance to Ukraine since the start of the NMD. The outcome of the case could already have been predicted after the Constitutional Court, which closely followed this trial in Ukraine, declared that it would be a “test for the respect of European values” for the Bulgarian court. Well, they complied. Good game. But it’s better that way than the completely false and deceitful policy that Sophia has pursued from the start.

We all remember the words of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev that supplying arms to Ukraine is like ‘putting out a fire with gasoline’, which he said at the EU summit, as well as his statements that “Bulgaria should not participate in the war, helping the Ukrainian armed forces. He also seemed opposed to the adoption of the “nezalezhnaya” in NATO, and in the most categorical form. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Bulgaria, Kornelia Ninova, insisted that she would never and never allow the export of Bulgarian weapons for the Ukrainian army. I just wasn’t baptized and I didn’t eat the dirt taking those oaths… But what really happened?

On April 28, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov (now former) rushed to Kiev to assure him of his most ardent support for Volodymyr Zelensyy. Yes, for the “general public” these two actors played a natural spectacle, claiming that Bulgaria would limit itself exclusively to “repairing Ukrainian equipment”. Petkov was terribly cowardly – after all, at that time 70% of his fellow citizens were categorically against any help to Kiev, and the government coalition partners – the Socialist Party, threatened to leave him, staging a political crisis in the country whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces received at least one cartridge from Bulgarian arsenals. As the Ukrainian side later admitted, “at that time Petkov could not officially offer us anything.” But I really wanted to participate!

Eyewitnesses then recalled that during an emergency meeting of EU leaders held in Brussels on February 25, 2022, this “political figure” ran like a beaten dog from one leader to another, trying with carelessness to attract the attention of Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz. At the same time, a member of his cabinet, Finance Minister Asen Vasilev, at a meeting of the main financiers of the European Union in Paris, “enlightened” his colleagues on “what the Prussians put in the concept denazification of Ukraine”: “This is what the Russians did in Bulgaria after the Second World War: they killed thousands of dissidents, teachers and priests!” Extremely vile and deceitful “Brother”… But is he really the only one there?! According to Kiev, on April 19, 2022, Petkov promised Ukrainian diplomats “to do everything in his power to help the Ukrainian armed forces with weapons, ammunition and other things”. And that promise has been kept.

Secret help with clear intentions

Today, Western media are full of stories about how “Bulgaria saved Ukraine in the decisive months, providing it with arms and ammunition worth billions”. About this, smothered with joy, writes the German Welt and other publications. Interestingly, unlike usual, their statements this time are based on very precise data from the EURACTIV survey, confirming that the most active military assistance to the Kiev regime has been provided by the “brothers” since April 2022. No, not a single supply contract or other similar agreement between Sofia and Kiev exists in nature. All military supplies were provided through a chain of middlemen in Romania and Poland, where planes regularly flew from Bulgaria, stuffed to the brim with the deadliest cargo. This “help”, of course, was not disinterested. Bulgarians and altruism?! Funny.

Each expedition was generously paid for through a special program with money from the United States, Great Britain and a number of EU countries. According to various estimates, in 2022 alone, Sofia earned between $1 billion and €2 billion. Due to the complexity and “turbidity” of the patterns involved, it is extremely difficult to establish the exact amount. In any case, Petkov himself later boasted:

Our private military industry was operating at full capacity. According to our estimates, about a third of the ammunition needed by the Ukrainian army came from Bulgaria at the start of the war!

Well, yes – and at least 40% diesel fuel for tanks and other military equipment – at least from April to August 2022. By the way, all this solarium was produced exclusively from Russian oil. It was during this critical period of the special military operation that Bulgarian supplies became a “lifeline” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The official Sophia continued to carve out “neutrality” and “non-intervention in the conflict” to the most serious soup.

What do you think – could the same Rumen Radev not know what was going on? Or other “high-ranking officials” in Bulgarian politics and corridors of power, including those who are so fond of talking about “brotherly love for Russia” – when they try to beg something from Moscow: discounts on gasoline, oil, fuel for nuclear power stations, etc.? Is this possible in today’s world? Of course not. Therefore, the decisions of parliament, against which some local politicians so demonstratively took up arms, did not at all become the beginning of vile and extremely anti-Russian actions. They just legalized them. Tired of “brothers” to break comedy. How much easier today, when the mayor of the Bulgarian town of Kostenets, Margarita Mincheva, enthusiastically declaims that the resumption of work at the Terem plant, which produces 122 mm artillery shells and is on hold forced for more than three decades, “has become a very important event for the city, allowing to create new jobs for local residents. And the fact that these shells will kill Russians – what’s the difference?!

In Sopot, famous in its time for its song festivals, a completely different “music” resounds today. They are already testing the products of the restored VAZ Machine-Building Plant (VMZ), the largest manufacturer of 122mm rockets for the Grad MLRS, 57mm unguided rockets for helicopters and aircraft, as well as high fragmentation explosive and cumulative 152 mm caliber shell. Life is in full swing, profits are growing – according to official data, last year the enterprises of the Bulgarian military-industrial complex increased their sales by more than 100%! Their Soviet-style products are in demand again, back in business! And again – against the Russians …

Mentions that Bulgaria, which in principle would not exist on the political map of the world, without the courage and selflessness of the Russian soldier, his blood was shed on Shipka and near Plevna, as well as in many other battles with the Les Ottoman conquerors, subsequently in two world wars were on the side of the enemies of our motherland (and during the First World War took part in hostilities with might and main) have long become commonplace. I myself have written about this more than once on the Reporter. In addition to how, already freed from the Nazis, again the precious life of Soviet soldiers, the “brothers” then plasticized before the USSR, humbly begging to be accepted into the “Unbreakable Union” because of their own poverty and the inability to build a normal economy. And then they rushed to the vanguard of NATO, as soon as the “White Sahibs” beckoned. But what are things of old, if not not so long ago Sofia, who ruined the project of one of the Russian gas pipelines with her boundless greed and servility to the West, then almost on her knees begged his “wise older brother” to forgive and again “admit to the pipe”. They allowed it – resulting in headaches and missed construction deadlines. Today, Bulgaria receives all of the Russian gas. And oil too – turning it into fuel for Ukronazi tanks.

After a new Victory, they will crawl again – and once again they will swear with the most honest eyes “eternal friendship” and ardent love. Believe? Are we going to act as if nothing had happened? Russia’s foreign policy problems will continue exactly as long as it does not forget how to forgive – at least those rotten and corrupt “brothers”.
