Today, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a Kuwaiti citizen who was a fugitive in the case of bringing 18 kilograms of narcotic hashish into the country, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control in Saudi Arabia.
The ministry said in a statement on its Twitter account that the competent authorities in Kuwait, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, arrested the fugitive accused in the case of bringing 18 kilograms of narcotic hashish to the State of Kuwait with the intention of trafficking.
She explained that the accused was arrested in the Saudi capital (Riyadh), and communication is underway with the Saudi authorities to receive the accused in preparation for referring him to the competent drug prosecution and taking the necessary legal measures against him.
The details of the strange case, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anbaa, date back to the first of March, when a citizen brought 18 kilos of hashish and then fled from the land port, taking advantage of not being arrested by the security gate.
The newspaper quoted a security source as saying that the Kuwaiti citizen came to the country by land in his car from abroad, where he was asked to unload all his bags and pass the car on x-rays for fear of the presence of additional drugs inside.
The source added: After making sure that the vehicle was free of drugs and the customs men began to search the luggage, he fled by car from the port gate, which is subject to security supervision, leaving the bags in which the hashish was seized.
At that time, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the opening of an urgent investigation into the case, and the Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, commented on the incident: "No one is above the law, whoever he is, and take the necessary measures against the negligent, whether they are cooperative or negligent".
