Qatar’s representative to the United Nations participates in the Global Futures Forum

Her Excellency Sheikha Alia bint Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, participated with HE Mr. Fergal Mithen, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations, in the framework of their role as facilitators of government consultations to draft the political declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, in the discussion on the role of society Al-Madani at the Sustainable Development Goals Summit and the Future Summit, during the Global Futures Forum, organized by the Alliance for the United Nations We Need, with the participation of a number of officials and personalities from civil society.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations said, in her speech, that "The challenges facing our world are interrelated, and therefore, Member States must work together in an interdependent manner in order to address these challenges"adding that the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is essential for survival.

and about "Our common agenda"which resulted from the request of Member States to His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations to provide a road map that takes into account the priorities of countries in implementing the sustainable development plan, Her Excellency stated that she sees "Our common agenda" Complementary to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement, rather than competing with it.

Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Summit, scheduled to be held in September 2023, Her Excellency stated that the summit will mark the middle of the road for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as world leaders will conduct a comprehensive review of the status of the sustainable development goals, respond to the impact of the multiple crises facing the world, and provide policy guidance on The transformative and accelerated actions needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

She noted that the Sustainable Development Goals Summit and the Future Summit are closely linked, and both can prove that strengthening institutions and the global cooperation approach enhances national capabilities, which helps achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement, and other important processes such as the Doha Work Program for the Least Developed Countries. The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations continued: These important, distinct and integrated processes require the support of civil society and organizations such as the United Nations coalition that we need and other stakeholders in order to achieve success and build the future we aspire to.
