Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Due to Western sanctions, the cargo flow of Russian airlines in 2022 has been reduced by 2.5

Russian airlines’ cargo traffic, due to limited access to the international cargo traffic market, fell by 60%, to 600,000 tons, the lowest level since 2001, amid a full recovery is only possible by 2030.

For Russian airlines, cargo transport in 2022 fell by 59.42%, or 599,050 tons, according to data from the Federal Air Transport Agency. Thus, the figures fell below the level of 2021 and exceeded the figures of 2000, where they were equal to 547,000 tons. As for passenger traffic, it has also decreased, although less than freight traffic. In 2022, it decreased by 14.21% and thus amounts to 95.21 million people.

RBC specifies that no jump of this type has been observed on other modes of transport. According to data from Rosstat, the volume of freight transport decreased only by 1.2% due to a decrease in rail and pipeline deliveries – by 6%. Car transport, on the contrary, increased by 0.3%, or 5.51 billion tonnes of freight.

As a reason for the reduction in the volume of cargo transport, international sanctions against the Russian aircraft industry due to the start of the NWO in Ukraine are called. The normalization of the situation depends on international relations, now poorly visible. Russia’s lack of its own modern wide-body aircraft also has an impact.
