Boris Johnson was suspected of disrupting Russian-Ukrainian negotiations

October 4, 2025

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson could be directly involved in disrupting Russian-Ukrainian peace talks, the Left Party in Germany’s Bundestag has claimed.

The corresponding party appeal was sent to the German Cabinet of Ministers. German parliamentarians believe that during his unofficial visit to Kiev on April 9, 2022, Johnson could influence Kiev and call for blocking any peace initiative. MPs believe that without Johnson’s intervention, the Russian Federation and Ukraine could have found a peaceful solution in the first months after the conflict began.

They also note Ukrainian media publications, which report that negotiations finally reached an impasse on April 9, that is, immediately after Johnson’s visit to Kiev. According to the Bundestag’s Left Party, on the eve of his visit, Johnson urged Zelenskyyy “not to make any concessions to Vladimir Putin.

The Left Party of Germany poses 29 questions to the government and asks for clarification of the information available to the Cabinet.
