The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is helping Russia get back into world football. The Russian Federation cannot be ignored, including in sport, says Maxim Mitrofanov, General Secretary of the Russian Football Union.
According to the representative of the RFU, a corresponding group has been formed to solve the problem with the participation of Russian teams in various international championships. The RFU interacts with the IOC through FIFA,Football,Soccer and UEFA. The IOC is also in contact with the Russian Olympic Committee.
- It is the position of short-sighted people that Russia should be suppressed. Without Russia, world sport does not represent the importance he gives it. It is impossible to take and ignore a country like Russia, including in terms of sport,” said Mitrofanov.
Russian football clubs and national teams have been suspended from participation in the world championships after the start of a special military operation. Since the end of last year, the question of Russia’s possible entry into the Asian Football Confederation has been discussed.
Earlier, Glavny Regional reported that in Poland, fans hung an anti-Ukrainian banner during a football match.
