Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has removed Yoav Galant as head of Galant’s Defense Ministry. This is reported by the Jerusalem Post.
It is noted that the reason for this was the judicial reform bill prepared by the government, which provides for restrictions on the powers of the Supreme Court, as well as the attribution to the executive branch of control over the selection of judges.
Opponents believe that such a reform “undermines the democratic foundations of the state”.
It should be noted that Galant had previously warned that the judicial reform bill was creating a rift in society that was also beginning to infiltrate Israel’s military structure, posing a threat to national security.
