Khalistan supporters demonstrated at Times Square in New York

New York: A large number of Khalistan supporters demonstrated at New York’s Times Square in America in support of absconding separatist Amritpal Singh in India. Protesters took out a car rally from the Baba Makhan Shah Lubna Sikh Center in the Richmond Hill neighborhood that culminated at the famous Times Square in downtown Manhattan on Sunday afternoon amid heavy security. Cars were carrying Khalistani flags and loud music and horns were being played. Singh’s pictures were being displayed on the ‘LED mobile billboard’ trucks.

Men, women and children thronged the popular New York destination in large numbers. They had Khalistan flags in their hands and were raising slogans. It was written on ers, ‘Free Amritpal Singh’ (free Amritpal Singh). Together they were also holding pictures of Singh. Singh’s picture was displayed on a ‘billboard’ in Times Square. There was a heavy police presence in the area and several vans and cars from the New York City Police Department (NYPD) were deployed.

A day before this, on Saturday, Khalistan supporters had gathered outside the Indian Embassy in Washington. Many of his speakers tried to incite violence, but due to the vigilance of the US Secret Service and local police, a repetition of the London and San Francisco incident was prevented. Indian missions in London and San Francisco were ransacked.
