Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Andrei Konovalov: Without official matches, the Russian national team is deteriorating

Former Moscow “Spartak” midfielder Andrey Konovalov said that without official matches, the Russian national football team is deteriorating.

“Without official matches, our team deteriorates,” he told Euro-Football.

Konovalov added that it would therefore be worth moving from UEFA to the Asian Football Confederation.

“The teams there are at a good level. Now we would be at least average there. But soon we could rise and become one of the best teams,” he said.

Russian teams have been suspended from international competitions since February 28, 2022. At the end of the year, the RFU abandoned the idea of moving to the AFC and intends to work on a gradual return to competition under the aegis of the UEFA.
