Roskachestvo found E. coli in 40% of Philadelphia rolls

March 29, 2023

Roskachestvo found E. coli in 40% of the Philadelphia rolls examined. About this in interview “Izvestiya” said the head of the organization Maxim Protasov.
The rolls in the study were purchased from restaurants, including the high-end segment, as well as retail chains and specialty take-out stores. According to Protasov, in all purchased rolls, excess numbers of microorganisms were detected.
“All this may indicate improper storage, that is, non-compliance with the temperature regime of the components and the final product, violation of sanitary and hygienic standards during production, etc.,” the manager explained. from Roskachestvo.
The packaging of most rolls also lacked information on composition and date of manufacture.
According to Protasov, in 2023 Roskachestvo plans to control Russian producers of whiskey and cognac, analogues of Coca-Cola and Pepsi, as well as pizza makers.
In 2022, Roskachestvo investigated 823 brands of cheap and socially significant products, 9% of which were found to be fake. “That is, in fact, one in ten products misleads the consumer with respect to the information given on the label,” Protasov noted.

According to the results of 2022, the head of Roskachestvo named sour cream, ultra-pasteurized milk and kvass as the highest quality product categories. In general, 21% of the products studied claim to receive the Russian “quality mark”, which Protasov called a “very positive fact”.

In February 2023 Roskachestvo discovered phytosterols in Philadelphia cheese rolls from Yakitoriya restaurants. This means that the milk fats were replaced by vegetable fats, that is, the cheese was wrong.

The head of Roskachestvo noted that this was not a systemic problem, but rather a system failure. Yakitoriya, he said, has already tightened control over incoming raw materials.
