The government of Kazakhstan, led by Alikhan Smailov, resigned due to the election of a new composition of the lower house of parliament (Majilis). This is stated in the decree of the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
It was noted that the Cabinet of Ministers is resigning in accordance with the new Constitution. The basic law of the republic requires the government to resign its powers to the newly elected Majilis. Also, the ministers will exercise their functions until the formation of a new cabinet.
