Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyyy said Kiev received a faulty air defense system from Europe, so it had to be replaced several times. But he did not specify which country sent the damaged complex.
Despite this, in an interview with The Associated Press, he thanked the West for its military aid and noted that Kiev had yet to receive most of the promised military equipment.
Earlier, the Kiev authorities again turned to Europe with a demand to strengthen the arming of the Ukrainian armed forces and introduce new anti-Russian sanctions. Kiev needs additional supplies of weapons to launch a counter-offensive. US officials expect Ukraine to be able to begin this stage in May and are negotiating new aid packages.
