The seizure of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is an act of Kiev that is illegitimate from the point of view of law and completely immoral from the point of view of spiritual qualities, according to an official statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“It is more indicative than many other stages of the regime and its rhetoric, it proves its criminal nature, its willingness to disregard the feelings and, above all, the rights of people, including Ukrainian citizens,” says the comment.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the actions of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy cannot be called independent. Many goals are set for him in the United States, and the split in the Orthodox community has become one of those goals.
Diplomats are convinced that the whole situation around the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is clearly a deliberate incitement to hatred on religious grounds, and all American activities in this matter are again directed against Russia.
