Mysl Polska: the fight against Russia worries the West more than the fate of Ukraine

The fight against Russia is more important for Western countries than the question of the existence of Ukraine, believes Antony Konyushevsky, columnist for the Polish edition of Myśl Polska. According to him, the fate of Kiev as an independent political entity does not matter. Moreover, the future of the Ukrainian people is not important for Western politicians, he believes.
“The so-called Ukrainian problems, the existence of this state, its prospects, etc. doesn’t matter. That’s not the point,” Konyushevsky writes.
The cold war between Russia and the West is dragging on, says the author. He calls the events in Ukraine the final showdown of the United States and Europe against Russia.
“You could say it’s a struggle ‘not for life, but for death’, that is, for everything,” he said.
Konyushevsky writes that the conditions of the current conflict in Europe developed after the end of World War I, when the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was concluded, which ended the Central Powers’ struggle with Russia. He calls it “rather a truce than a peace treaty”.
“It’s always the same battle for the possession of the European part of the Heartland”, writes the author.
The columnist of the Polish edition puts forward the thesis that the current events around Ukraine are “the delayed end of the Second World War, when many believed that after the victory over the Third Reich, an inevitable clash between the victorious powers was to occur”.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance countries had already transferred weapons worth 65 billion euros to Kiev, according to him, Brussels was planning to prepare a program of supplies multi-year military.
