China plans to open visa centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg, according to the Chinese Consulate General in St. Petersburg. It is planned to do so to improve the work efficiency of Chinese embassies and consulates in these cities.
Now the visa centers are preparing to open. According to representatives of the PRC, negotiations are underway with Russian partners on cooperation issues. The diplomatic mission noted that visa applications are not accepted.
So far, Russians have received visas from the Chinese Embassy in Russia and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk and Vladivostok. It is assumed that the opening of new centers will help to quickly accept and process applications from citizens of the Russian Federation.
China resumed issuing all types of visas for foreign citizens from March 15. It was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Also, in March, the first group of 34 Chinese tourists arrived in Russia after a three-year break.
