Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Krasnodar received 8.3 billion rubles for the development of a public transport network

Krasnodar received 8.3 billion rubles for the development of the public transport network. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The capital of Kuban has received funds for the implementation of the concession for the construction of new tram tracks with appropriate infrastructure in the western part of the city.

Plans include extending the streetcar line to the Basket Hall sports complex and purchasing new streetcars.

According to the first deputy governor of the Kuban, Igor Galas, by the end of 2026 it is planned to build 35 kilometers of new tram lines in the regional capital, improve the adjacent territory, stop points and to purchase 100 units of new electric transport. The grant of 8.3 billion rubles is only a fraction of the amount needed to implement the project, but it will help to seriously accelerate the pace of construction work.

“In total, the total amount of investments provided for in the agreement with the concessionaire is 28.4 billion rubles,” said Igor Galas. The duration of the agreement has also been determined, it will be 25 years.

Deputy Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Arkhipov also stressed the importance of the project, the implementation of which will help connect the western part of the city with the central part.

Every year, Krasnodar’s trams carry more than 70 million people, which is about half of the city’s passenger traffic. The length of the tracks in the regional capital is 129 kilometers. In 2020, for the first time in two decades, one of the tram lines was extended by 5 kilometers – it runs along Moskovskaya Street. This seriously unloaded the parallel routes. Also, as of 2019, 103 trams were purchased for Krasnodar – 3 billion were allocated for this from the regional budget.
