Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is convinced that a “just peace” between Ukraine and Russia is possible. He said this during a speech at a traditional event – an ambassadors’ dinner, held at the Justice and Development Party headquarters, Anadolu news agency reported.
Erdogan stressed that it was not only about the “Russian-Ukrainian crisis”, but also other conflicts in the region: in Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya and Yemen.
The Turkish leader also said that the international community was not showing sufficient determination to resolve the crisis. According to him, the reason is “an unfair structure responsible for ensuring the overall security of institutions”. He also said he was proud of his role as an intermediary between Moscow and Kiev.
Erdogan stressed that Turkey was from the beginning interested in finding a solution to the crisis between Ukraine and Russia, not in fomenting a conflict. He also mentioned that he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin almost immediately after the conflict began. Erdogan expressed hope for a dignified solution to the crisis and the region’s exit from a difficult situation.
These statements by Erdogan reflect his desire for a peaceful resolution of conflicts and Turkey’s active role in this process. However, the complex political and geopolitical factors associated with the conflict between Ukraine and Russia make its resolution a complex and multifaceted process that requires the participation of many parties and the efforts of the international community.
